WinSport Canada is building our nation’s first winter sport institute – it will be the incubator for high performance Canadian athletes and a place that develops and inspires young people to be the best they can be.
The Canadian Winter Sport Institute will be a place where state-of-the-art training facilities, coaching, programming, clinicians, sport research, and sportsmanship are blended together to create one of the most unique athletic environments in the world.
CANADA WINS is WinSport Canada’s capital campaign – the public portion of a multimillion dollar project that includes our new athletic and ice complex. All three levels of government have already given their support and are proud partners with WinSport Canada.

The Future For Canadian Sport
|
Competition and the pursuit of excellence lay at the heart of all sport – including community sport. High performance athletes are an integral part of the community sport continuum because communities develop, support, identify with, and cherish their champions.
Those champions, in turn, inspire us with their achievements, unite us, and often embody our highest ideals. When our athletes win, our country benefits; from raising our national pride, to increased participation in sport, which then raises the overall health and wellness of the communities we live in. It’s not just one person experiencing a victory; it’s a multitude of people.
To become a champion, our athletes require a wide range of support. Around the world, countries are developing facility-based sport institutes. These institutes form a basis for encouraging operating efficiencies of national sport organizations, providing access to world-class support services and have benefits that extend to coaching, programming and education for athletes. They become hubs for tourism, benefit communities, and produce inspirational role models.
The Canadian Winter Sport Institute – WinSport Canada – will provide the competitive advantage for our athletes as well as recreational opportunities for youth pursuing active lifestyles. Having Canada’s high performance athletes train in the same facility as our youth will create a role model system that will inspire generations to come.

Igniting Passion For Sport
|
Building on the 1988 Olympic legacy facilities makes sense. When you consider the evolution of an athlete – and the evolution of the facilities they train on – they go hand in hand, and yet, they also push each other. The plan now is to take sport to the next level and provide an institute model and enhance our facilities that our athletes and youth discovering sport will benefit from across the country.
The CANADA WINS campaign is about igniting passion for sport. It is about the future of sport and the positive impact that will ripple through every community from coast to coast to coast.

"My family and I had the opportunity to attend the CanadaWins event at Southland Leisure Centre in Calgary on Saturday and I just wanted to take the opportunity to thank WinSport Canada for putting on a first rate event. My children (7 and 10) participated in the hockey training, the running training with Earle Connor and the gymnastics training with Kyle Shewfelt. They also spoke to all of the athletes involved and took the opportunity to have their t-shirts signed - which they both wore to school today. Both children had an excellent time with their only complaint being that they could not do all of the sessions. My husband and I were impressed with the enthusiasm and friendliness of the volunteers and with the time and effort the athletes put into their sessions.
Personally, as an Olympics junkie, I was excited to meet Earle, Kyle and Carol."
