About UsWinSport
Working together with our partners in sport, WinSport’s vision is to be the acknowledged leader in developing and sustaining the facilities required for Canada to be the number one winter sport nation. WinSport, a not-for-profit organization, supports national sport organizations, encourages educational opportunities, and subsidizes the operation of unique training and recreational facilities used by the nation's top athletes and public.
WinSport has successfully maintained, operated and funded the 1988 Olympic Winter Games legacy facilities for more than two decades. This collection of sport venues has played a crucial role in developing Canada’s elite athletes and providing a recreational playground for youth to enjoy and get involved in sport.
From playground to podium, WinSport is for anyone inspired to get involved in sport and provide them with the facilities and support they need to discover sport, develop skill, or work towards dreams of a podium finish.
Canadian athletes of all ages and skill levels have been coming to WinSport facilities and have created a culture of excellence. Success breeds success. Encouraging young Canadians to follow in the footsteps of their athlete role models and giving them the chance to learn beside their heroes will make their dreams and aspirations tangible and attainable.
WinSport is now embarking on a new legacy – to create the first winter sport institute in Canada and one of the most unique athletic environments in the world. Through determination and perseverance, WinSport has evolved into one of the premier sport development organizations in the world.
Around the world, countries are developing facility-based sport institutes. These institutes greatly enhance operating efficiencies within and across national sport organizations. They provide access to world-class support services and result in benefits that extend to coaching, programming and education for athletes.
The Winter Sport Institute was created with a vision for Canada – a vision that will promote a more prosperous nation. With the development of the athletic and ice complex at Canada Olympic Park, this world-class collection of winter sport facilities will open international doors and facilitate globally televised competitions every year. Facilities of this calibre attract national and international athletes and audiences to our country and provide unparalleled opportunities for generations to come. The impact on tourism, enhanced global image and resulting economic activity will benefit all Canadians.
This is who we are and where we are going. Join our team. Together, we will develop champions, inspire generations and strengthen communities.
