February 11 - Great Northern Concrete Toboggan Race
Perhaps in response
to the long Canadian winter, the Great Northern Concrete Toboggan Race,
is an annual nation-wide celebration of innovations and engineering
spirit. And it is held in the coldest month of the year. Ever since
its beginnings in 1974 this contest has consistently brought together
some of the most talented and enthusiastic members of the engineering
community for four unforgettable days every February.
The rules dictate that toboggans must include a roll bar,
running surfaces composed only of concrete while maintaining a total
weight less than 300 lbs. They are subject to a safety inspection before
they can be raced and awards are presented for Top Speed, Best Run and
Asthetics.
Join us for the first Canadian edition of the Vans Hi-Standard Series. The event consists of an original big air format where riders are judged on individual style, rewarding creativity and self-expression the Vans way.
No rotations over 720 are permitted!
It's pretty simple, the more style and trick variety you have, the more you get paid. Each stylish manoeuver will get you cash on the spot! The course will also include the Pro-Tec rail best trick portion with $500 up for grabs.
Space is limited to 50 snowboarders per event within two categories 15 and under/16 and over.
