WinSport Canada's Camp Green Summer Training FacilityView the recent CTV National News profile on WinSport Canada’s Camp Green - On the Road to Vancouver travels to the 'cold camp' .

Traditionally, summer training for Canadian snow-sport athletes in alpine and freestyle skiing and snowboarding involved expensive, time-consuming travel to glaciers in Europe or the Southern Hemisphere. In 2003, WinSport Canada and key sport partners explored Farnham Glacier as a potential summer training facility. The pilot project, which ran during the summer months in 2003, was deemed an overwhelming success by athletes, coaches and officials. A unique partnership between WinSport Canada, Vancouver 2010 and philanthropists, Don and Shirley Green of Brockville, Ontario was formed, enabling WinSport Canada to launch and operate the $2 million world-leading summer glacier training centre known as Camp Green on Farnham Glacier. WinSport Canada completed the project, including access roads and base camp construction.

Designed to boost Canada’s performance in alpine and freestyle skiing, and snowboarding, for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, Camp Green on Farnham Glacier, located in the Purcell Mountains of southeastern British Columbia, now provides a critical summer training base for Canadian snow-sport athletes.

WinSport Canada's Camp Green High Performance Summer Training FacilityAccommodation at Camp Green consists of high tech insulated tent structures that have on-site power to provide heat and light. Internet access and satellite television is provided for the down-time following training. The camp consists of four - five person sleeper units, a kitchen/dining area, washroom facilities (complete with showers), wax rooms, ski storage and a dryland training area with stationary bikes, strength training and recreation equipment provided. The glacier provides the camp with an on-site supply of fresh water with the waste products from the kitchen, showers and washroom facilities managed through a modern waste management system.

WinSport Canada named the training facility on Farnham Glacier Camp Green in recognition of the generous donation of $1,000,000 by Don and Shirley Green.
