WinSport Canada’s Spray Village offers a unique mix of short and long-term rental accommodation options for athletes, coaches and training staff. With six 3-bedroom rental homes, three storage garages, on-site facility maintenance services and close proximity to training facilities at the Canmore Nordic Centre, the Village offers convenient and inexpensive accommodation to sport participants. WinSport Canada acquired 12 of the buildings from TransAlta Corporation in May 2007 and renovated them over the course of the year. Priority access is given on a first-come first-serve basis to competitive nordic and alpine sport athletes, coaches, and staff based in the Bow Valley.
The Spray Village has four key sport stakeholders groups: Cross Country Canada (CCC), Biathlon Canada (BC), Nordic Combined Ski Canada (NCSC), and Alberta Alpine (AA). The needs of athletes, coaches and staff from these stakeholder groups differ according to training schedules and the availability of alternative accommodation. WinSport Canada will continue to balance revenue generation with meeting the needs of short and long-term renters. Available user catagories and rental accomodation types are as follows:
