The Ice Rink Manager is a hand's on management role responsible for the overall operation of WinSport Canada's Athletic Ice Complex. The role is responsible for all aspects of facility operations as well as ice production operations including, ice maintenance, refrigeration plant operation, custodial and building maintenance duties, scheduling, supervising and training of staff, ordering supplies and operating equipment. A key focus of the role is to optimize ice scheduling to its maximum efficiency; creating and identifying revenue generating opportunities.

This role will be required to assist in the start up of the Athletic Ice Complex including the development of facility usage, policies and procedures and initial staffing.

Responsibilities could include, but will not be limited to:

  • Oversee day to day management of the Athletic Ice Complex
  • Develop annual budget and business plan in coordination with the Operation team; including setting goals and objectives
  • Full Operational profit and loss responsibility
  • Develop and initiate programming and scheduling for the AIC with a focus on offering world leading training opportunities and maximizing revenue generation
  • Establish flood schedules, edging schedules and general ice making needs
  • Coordinate with the Human Resources Department to hire, train, evaluate and supervise team members
  • Mitigate risks through proactive occupation health and public safety programs
  • Liaise with managers and team members to implement special events
  • Create a positive experience for all users
  • Provide customer service and dispute resolution
  • Participate as a member of the operations management team and participates in the Duty Manager responsibilities

The ideal candidate will be proactive, optimistic and have the ability to multi-task. He/she will have an undergraduate degree in a related discipline as well as the following:

  • Strong guest service aptitude with an ability to lead and direct others in high performance guest service
  • Must have a minimum of 5 years experience supervising and leading teams
  • Must have 5 years progressive experience in facility operations including, but not limited to, ice maintenance, ice resurfacing operations, and event hosting
  • Must have demonstrated budget management skills as well as a strong business acumen
  • Experience in project management is considered an asset

We are currently looking for banquet cooks to join our team. Working under the supervision of the executive sous chef, the banquet cook must be able to work independently, carrying out the assigned daily food production as scheduled.

Responsibilities could include, but will not be limited to: 

  • Works under the supervision of the executive chef or sous chef
  • To assist with all facets of planning, organizing, conducting and controlling the preparation and cooking of food for all events at Canada Olympic Park
  • Ensuring all food is presented in a standardized and acceptable form, and that all equipment is in good working order and maintained in a clean manner

The ideal candidate will have:

  • The ability to work independently, carrying out assigned food production schedule
  • Candidate working towards their Journeyman Certificate or enrolled in a commercial food cooking program and 3 years of job related experience

We are currently looking for enthusiastic summer camp counsellors to join our WinSport Canada team. At Camp Torch, campers experience the true Canadian Olympic spirit participating in an option of 5 focused camp programs. These programs include Tykes Camp (4-6), Adventure Quest Camp (7-9), Outdoor Adventure Camp (10-14), Olympic Sports Training Camp (10-14), The Ascenders' Climbing Camp (9-14) and Leadership In Training (14-15). While leading campers through their daily activities counsellors provide learning experiences in teamwork, problem solving, communication and healthy living.

  • Mountain Bike Instructors

We are currently looking for energetic mountain bike instructors to join our team for the spring, summer and fall. Mountain bike instructors provide safe and fun lessons to participants ranging in age from 4 - adult. Instruction ranges from developing skills such as balance, braking and corning to freeriding, dirt jumping and stunt riding.

Responsibilities could include, but will not be limited to:

  • Preparing lessons that are age and skill level appropriate
  • Maintaining familiarity with Canada Olympic Park's mountain bike trails and terrain and ensuring participants are always in a controlled environment
  • Communicating any trail changes or concerns to the trails crew immediately
  • Communicating with public users on trails specifically promoting safe use

  • Challenge Course Facilitator  
We are currently looking for challenge course facilitators to join our enthusiastic recreation team. Challenge course facilitators will be responsible for providing excellent facilitation and equipment set-up to clients of all ages and abilities.

Responsibilities could include, but will not be limited to:

  • Set-up, take-down, and daily equipment checks of all elements and equipment of the course
  • Safely and effectively execute group programming including planning, facilitating, and debriefing activities
  • Enforcing all facility protocols while participants are under the care of WinSport Canada's Canada Olympic Park

  • A background in facilitating experiential education programs including ropes/challenges courses

  • Executive Chef

WinSport Canada is currently seeking a creative, inspiring individual to lead our kitchen team as Executive Chef. Reporting to the Director of Food and Beverage, the Executive Chef will lead a team of permanent and temporary individuals at Canada Olympic Park. This hands-on Chef is responsible for the quality and preparation of all food for our Catering, Food Court, Sunday Brunch and Lounge guests.

Responsibilities of the Executive Chef could include, but will not be limited to:

  • Overseeing the food and kitchen production for all restaurant and banquet functions
  • Maintaining the highest professional food quality, including meeting food cost/labor obligations and sanitation standards
  • Providing training and guidance to enhance and develop the kitchen team
  • Coordinating scheduling to ensure kitchen is fully staffed
  • Developing menus as required and ensure pricing is fair, reasonable and profitable
  • Ensuring inventories are at a high level to accommodate food service requirements
  • Monitoring equipment maintenance, supply and order equipment as required
  • Performing other duties as required

The ideal candidate will have obtained their Red Seal Journeyman Certificate in cooking or related study as well as the following:

  • A minimum of five years cooking experience
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Strong organizational skills; as you will be transporting food for banquets to six different venues around the park

We are currently looking for outside services attendants to join our team.

Responsibilities could include, but will not be limited to:

  • Provide information, assistance and direction to onsite guests on site and to guests arriving at Canada Olympic Park, including staffing the main gate information booth

We are currently looking for a security officer to ensure a safe, coordinated and efficient operation of Canada Olympic Park. The security officer will be pro-active in all matters of Park safety, security, emergency response, preventative maintenance, public relations and general Park maintenance. Shifts rotate: 6 a.m. - 6 p.m., 6 p.m. - 6 a.m.

Responsibilities could include, but will not be limited to:

  • Ensuring the safety and security of all guests at the Park
  • Responding to any emergency situation as needed
  • Liaising with various City of Calgary Departments and officials including: Calgary Police Service, Emergency Medical Services, and the Calgary Fire Department
  • Assisting with the coordination of special events
  • Providing general assistance to park visitors and maintain knowledge on "what is happening" in all areas of the park

 The Intermediate Accountant is responsible for the accounting functions of the entire organization including Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Inventory, Fixed Assets, and General Ledger. The Intermediate Accountant will supervise two accounting staff members.

Were you born a supervisor or did you have to earn the title?
“I actually started out as a lifty, helping people on and off the lifts. Since then, I’ve worked my way up to supervisor. I’m proof that there’s a lot of room to grow within the company.”  

It must get pretty lonely up at the ski jump towers. How do you keep yourself busy?
“There never seems to be a dull moment in my job. There’s always something exciting going on at the top of the hill. No two days are ever the same!”

The ski jump towers are only open during the winter, right?
“We actually operate year-round. Six out of our seven jumps are open during the summer months for training purposes.”
