Canada Olympic Park has maximized all of the space we have available to allow for all levels of skiers and riders in the community to "discover, develop and excel". The newly expanded First Turns beginner area provides an introduction to winter sport. Further developed is supported by intermediate terrain including the Burton Progression Park and main ski runs. For competitive athletes and advanced skiers/riders, COP offers challenging moguls and women's FIS slalom run, aerials, Nordic trails, 22-foot halfpipe, skier/snowboard cross track and an advanced line in the terrain park.
Exposure to different disciplines within each sport as a holistic approach to athlete development. This will allow an athlete to identify what they like while creating a great multi-skill foundation

It takes a minimum of 10 years and 10,000 hours of deliberate training for a talented athlete to reach elite levels (Starkes & Ericsson, 2003). For an athlete and coach, this translates into slightly more than 3 hours of training or competition daily for 10 years
