WinSport Snow School is the largest in Canada and offers close proximity to the city, short and frequent lesson, five magic carpets and progressive terrain making it the ideal place to learn. We put 35,000 people on snow every year and you can be next!

Building skills for a trip to the mountains
  • Develop your skills quickly for a ski day with family, friends or coworkers and try our ski in 3. These are a group of 3 lessons that are built to progress your skills.
Level 1- Make the leap
  • Level 1 is the first in our learning pathway. Grasp the basics and learn how to be safe on the hill before you move on to the next level.
  • To complement our existing five week and PD day programming we have added intense 2-3-day sessions and season long opportunities. Choose the option that fits best for you.

Level 1

Through the use of skiing games we strive to build fundamental ski movements that can be leveraged in future lessons and programs. Before moving to the next level, it is important that all participants show competency in the key goal areas.

Prerequisites
  • No previous skiing experience required

    • Remain active for 90 minutes

Parent & Tot

Learn something new together in a fun, social atmosphere in a small group setting that allows for lots of individual attention. Children develop their skiing through skill-based games while parents learn tips from instructors on how to continue fostering their child ski development.

  • Build comfort and confidence on the snow

Prerequisites
  • Parents must be able to ski at an intermediate level and bring their own equipment (including a CSA approved helmet)
  • No previous skiing experience required for preschooler

Level 1

Skiing related games are used to provide a fun and active introduction to skiing with the hope of building a lifelong love of the sport. Level 1 may be repeated multiple times to help build a solid foundation for a long skiing future.

Discover Ski

Discover a new passion for skiing in a fun and safe learning environment. Tailored to suit the learning style and abilities of each group, basic skills are learned and practiced through ski-related games in the beginner area. This single 90-minute lesson includes lift ticket and rentals.

  • Come to a stop using a snow plow (pizza shape)
  • May progress to turning, as skill level allows

Prerequisites
  • No previous skiing experience required
  • Able to:
    • Be active on skis for 90 minutes

Level 1

Discover Ski

Designed for a more mature group looking to discover the basics of skiing, this program covers the fundamentals but with slightly more technical insight into skiing progression and a slightly quicker pace than our youth program. This single 90-minute lesson includes lift ticket and rentals.

  • Introduce turning by end of session

Ski In 3

Whether you’ve never been on skis before or you already have some experience but would like a refresher, this extremely popular program is a great way to learn the basics of skiing in a fun and safe environment with an experienced instructor. These are a group of 3 lessons that are built to progress your skills.These 3 lessons include lift ticket and rentals.Please note that the start times change on weekends.

Friday’s start time is 6:30 p.m. and on Saturday and Sunday the start time is 9:00 a.m.

Key Goals
  • Comfortably ride from the top of the hill to the bottom by the end of day 3. Chairlift may be used, depending on the group

Prerequisites
  • No previous skiing experience required

First Time Ages 18+

Level 1

A program starts with basic skills and works towards creating skiers who are comfortable riding on beginner terrain without assistance. Level 1 groups will rarely use the chair lift, but the instructor will consider it if the skill level of the group allows.

  • Complete turns of varying size on green terrain
  • Make complete stops on slightly steeper terrain
  • Build confidence on skis and feel in control in a new environment

First Time Women Only Ages 18+
Ski Cellar Snowboard

WinSport is proud to support Women’s programs and encourages women of all ages to come learn to ski or snowboard this winter or to progress your skills in the next level. Ski Cellar Snowboard, a local Calgary retailer for more than 70 years has partnered with WinSport for the last 20 years to grow interest in skiing and snowboarding, bring more people to snow and welcome women to try the sport, stay engaged and keep their families active all winter long. As part of our women’s only programs, you’ll be in a group of like-minded women in a non-intimidating setting to help you learn and you will have the opportunity to hear about the latest technology in equipment that is best suited to women to keep you comfortable on the hill.

On the second night of your program, join us for a short presentation from Ski Cellar Snowboard about topics in the industry relevant to women, women’s equipment and fit, prizes, hot chocolate and an opportunity to visit the mountains this winter!
