WinSport Snowboard Lessons - Learn More
WinSport Snow School is the largest in Canada and offers close proximity to the city, short and frequent lesson, five magic carpets and progressive terrain making it the ideal place to learn. We put 35,000 people on snow every year and you can be next!

Now that you have developed basic skills and have moved past level 1, continue to build your abilities by selecting your progressive level.

To complement our existing five week and PD day programming we have added intense 2-3-day sessions and season long opportunities. Choose the option that fits best for you.

Next Step Snowboard

This lesson is for those who have recently completed a Discover Lesson or are still within the beginner stages of learning. If you have a basic understanding of moving on your snowboard but need more confidence and practice, the Next Step Lesson is the right place for you. This single 90-minute lesson includes a lift ticket and rentals.
Key Goals
  • Confidently come to a complete stop on green/blue terrain
  • Introduce heel side and toe side turns

Prerequisites
  • Recent completion of a Discover Lesson or previous experience on beginner terrain

Level 2

Snowboarding related games are used to help participants build on Level 1 skills and continue their progression. Level 2 may be repeated multiple times to ensure competency in core skill areas and help build a solid foundation for a long snowboarding future.

    • Strap on board with minimal assistance

Level 3

Fundamental skills development continues for those who are able to ride with control on green terrain and are ready to be pushed to the next level. This may include building to higher speeds and progressing on to the chairlift, as group ability allows. Level 3 may be repeated multiple times to ensure competency in core skill areas and help build a solid foundation for a long snowboarding future.

Level 3

Level 3 is a fast moving group for children ready to start riding faster on steeper terrain, while refining their edge control. This course progresses from beginner to intermediate terrain by way of the chairlift, with the opportunity for features such as small jumps, rollers, bumps and the 12-foot halfpipe to be introduced.

This program focuses on furthering the technique of strong snowboarders who are ready to ride hard and fast on a variety of terrain. The goal is to develop strong, well-rounded riders who feel comfortable attempting any sort of terrain. Features such as small jumps, rollers, bumps, and the 12-foot halfpipe may also be introduced.

With a slightly quicker pace than Level 1, this program encourages participants to continue building their skills and improve their stance while taking on new challenges, such as using the chairlift and snowboarding from top to bottom unassisted.

  • Comfortable linking toe and heel side turns
  • Develop a refined, balanced body posture in order to progress

Prerequisites
  • Successfully completed Level 1 or have the ability to complete all key goals outlined in Level 1
  • Able to:
    • Make complete stops
    • Turn around obstacles on beginner terrain

Level 3

This program introduces more advanced manoeuvres into your snowboarding, such as riding switch and carving. Features such as small jumps, bumps and rollers may also be introduced, depending on the interests of the group.

Once you’re comfortable riding at high speeds, this program will help you refine some of the more advanced aspects of snowboarding. Features such as small jumps, bumps, and rollers may also be introduced at this level, depending on the interests of the group.

  • Refine existing carving technique
  • Learn how to tackle variable terrain at higher speeds

  • Successfully completed Level 3 or have the ability to complete all key goals outlined in Level 3
    Previous introduction to carving

    • Link turns with smooth flow and rhythm on green/blue terrain
    • Comfortably ride at higher speeds

Learn More Women Only Ages 18+
Ski Cellar Snowboard

WinSport is proud to support Women’s programs and encourages women of all ages to come learn to ski or snowboard this winter or to progress your skills in the next level. Ski Cellar Snowboard, a local Calgary retailer for more than 70 years has partnered with WinSport for the last 20 years to grow interest in skiing and snowboarding, bring more people to snow and welcome women to try the sport, stay engaged and keep their families active all winter long. As part of our women’s only programs, you’ll be in a group of like-minded women in a non-intimidating setting to help you learn and you will have the opportunity to hear about the latest technology in equipment that is best suited to women to keep you comfortable on the hill.

On the second night of your program, join us for a short presentation from Ski Cellar Snowboard about topics in the industry relevant to women, women’s equipment and fit, prizes, hot chocolate and an opportunity to visit the mountains this winter!

Level 2
